Find accounts

Use company and signal filters to find accounts that fit your target market.

Define the accounts you want

Open Find accounts from the sidebar. Start with a clear description of your audience: where the companies operate, their industry, their size, and any relationship they already have with your team.

For example, you might look for mid-sized manufacturers in your territory, then narrow that group by account owner or recent activity. Begin with a few meaningful criteria so you can understand what each one changes.

Filters and records vary with your organization's data and integrations. CRM-specific criteria require the relevant CRM connection and configuration.

Apply your filters

  1. Select Add filter and browse or search for an Account filter.
  2. Choose criteria such as Industry, Location, or Employee count. Set the values that match your target audience.
  3. Add relationship or activity criteria where relevant, such as Account owner, Lists, or Last activity.
  4. Use the available Signal filters when you want to find accounts with a particular reason to act.
  5. Review the active filters and the results together. Adjust a value or remove a filter if you have narrowed the search too far.

If your team uses Salesforce, an administrator can add reusable filters in Org settings → Salesforce filters. Ask them to configure the account criteria your team needs, then use the available filters under Add filter → Account.

Account filters can also help you avoid overlap. Where available, use exclusions for accounts in active sequences, warm accounts, or accounts whose sequence recently completed. Choose exclusions that fit your team's prospecting rules.

Find accounts showing company results, Add filter, and the View menu.
Use Add filter to narrow the account results and View to return to saved criteria. Example data shown.

Prioritize accounts with Heat Index

Athean heat index helps you prioritize accounts using the signals available to your workspace. Ratings are High, Medium, or Low. Use them alongside your company criteria to choose which accounts to review first.

Open Add filter → Account → Athean heat index and choose the levels you want to include. Select an account's heat indicator in the results to open its details and read the explanation when available. Use that context to decide your next step.

Review and organize the results

Open an account to check its company details and recent activity. Use its Contacts tab to see whether it contains the people you want to reach. A matching company is a starting point for research, not a complete outreach plan.

Select relevant rows and choose Add to list to keep them together. Check which rows are selected before applying a bulk action.

To use the same criteria again, open the View menu and choose Save as new view…. The button shows your current view, such as View: All accounts or View: Custom. Give the view a name that describes the audience. The view remembers your filtering criteria; a list collects the records you choose.

When an account is missing

Check the selected saved view, active filters, owner, and exclusions first. Remove restrictive criteria one at a time to see what changes. If an expected CRM field or filter is absent, ask your administrator about your organization's connection and configuration. For fields on an account record, follow Account and contact Salesforce live fields.

Once the results look right, use Find contacts to apply role-based criteria across your target companies.
