Start with a question and a consistent scope
Signals tell you what you need to know; Tasks organize what you need to do. Dashboards help you understand how those efforts are going and what to improve.
- Open Dashboards under Activity.
- Choose a date range for the question you want to answer.
- Use People to focus on particular users or teams, then apply your selection.
- Check the activity scope so you know whether you are reviewing Athean activity or the wider activity available from your connected tools.
Keep the same scope when comparing results. Book coverage uses fixed rolling windows, so its date selector is disabled.
Choose the view that answers your question
| View | Use it to understand |
|---|---|
| Overview | Activity and outcomes across sequences, email, calls, LinkedIn, meetings, and opportunities. Select an activity tile to explore that channel. |
| Activity | What happened within a particular channel, including the records behind the totals. |
| Signals | Which signals were actioned or ignored, whether activity followed, and where meetings were booked. |
| Tasks | Work completed, overdue, or skipped, and how long completion takes. |
| Depth of pursuit | How deeply contacts are being worked and how pursuit differs across your team. |
| Book coverage | How much of the assigned account book has been touched across fixed rolling windows. |
| Call patterns | How call results vary by day and time, with controls for the time perspective and metric. |
For a detailed sequence review, follow Analyze sequence performance. For a dashboard built around your own question, use Custom dashboards.
Follow Signals and Tasks through to results
In Signals, compare Actioned and Ignored with With first touch and No touch. First touch means activity was logged after the signal arrived; a status change alone is different from taking action on the account or contact.
Meeting booked means a meeting was scheduled on the signal's account or contact after the signal arrived. Use that timing as context; it does not by itself establish that the signal caused the meeting.
In Tasks, choose Due so far to review work people have already had a chance to complete. All scheduled includes tasks due later in the selected range. Check that setting before interpreting completion rates.
Use the recent-record and per-rep breakdowns to find where attention is needed. A task marked Completed records that the work was done; review meetings and other outcomes separately.
Turn a coverage gap into assigned follow-up
For a weekly team review, use coverage to find where attention is thin, then choose the accounts and work that should come next.
- Set People to your team and open Book coverage. Keep the activity scope in view; coverage uses fixed rolling windows.
- In Per-rep breakdown, compare Not touched in 30d with Book size. Use the percentage and account count together to choose a rep's book to review.
- Select that rep and inspect Touched accounts. Choose Last 30 days and open account links to understand the recent work. This table shows accounts that were touched; it is not the list of missing touches.
- To find follow-up candidates, open Find accounts. Under Add filter → Account, choose the relevant Account owner and set Last activity to Not in the last 30 days. Use Never when you want accounts with no recorded activity. These filters depend on your organization's available data; see Find accounts.
- Open promising accounts and check their activity, ownership, and existing outreach with the rep. Agree which contacts need follow-up and the next action for each. Have the rep create follow-up Tasks from those contacts, with a clear title, notes, and due date. Tasks created through that flow are assigned to the rep by default.
- Have the rep check the creation result and confirm the new Tasks in their queue. At the next review, return to the same team and rolling window and inspect the activity and outcomes on those accounts.
The result is an agreed set of follow-ups you can track. The account search helps you choose candidates; its scope can differ from the dashboard, so use account history to confirm the gap instead of expecting identical totals. Creating a Task does not itself touch an account or complete outreach.
In Touched accounts, you can also select rows and use Add task directly. These tasks are assigned to you. Review the selected accounts, title, due date, and creation result before leaving the dialog. Use the rep-created workflow above for work the rep should own.
Turn the results into your next change
Use the reporting views to choose a specific next step:
- Signals without a first touch: review which accounts deserve follow-up and who should act.
- Overdue tasks: check workload, timing, and the steps being created by your sequences.
- Gaps in account coverage: follow the coverage review to choose accounts and assign focused follow-up.
- Activity without the outcomes you expect: review targeting and messaging before simply increasing volume.
Change one part of the workflow, then return to a comparable time window and team scope. Read the metric definitions and underlying records before drawing a conclusion from a small sample.
